I allow my patients to sit on their posterior thighs with a pillow after surgery.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Dear AmandaMarieRoze,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. It is my pleasure help you with your concerns. You can sit on the BBL pillow immediately after the procedure. It will help you to not affect the fat cells. The correct way to use the pillow is under the thighs. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!
I allow patients to sit after about 2-3 weeks. If a pillow is used under the thighs, where the buttocks are not under pressure, then it is ok after a few days.
The risk of infection secondary to BBL is not significant and on par with most other surgical procedures. Infection can be avoided by standard perioperative prophylactic antibiotics and sterile technique. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
