Answer: Bald spot since birth It's difficult to see exactly the area in the photo and the skin around and in the area of hair loss. The main treatment will be surgical -either putting hair into the area or cutting the area out. However, before any surgical manipulation, I would advise strongly to see a dermatologist to get a diagnosis and perform and full skin, hair nail, teeth and full physical examination. A number of conditions, including some genetic conditions and syndromes, can present in this manner. Rarely, hair loss in this manner from birth can have implications for other aspects of your current or future health or the health of any children.

Answer: Bald spot since birth Such bald spots may be the result of forceps damage at birth, or possibly some abnormal area of the scalp that did not grow hair. Knowing that it was there since birth, there are two approaches that might be considered: (1) hair transplants and (2) excision of the bald spot probably requiring a balloon expander. The least expensive of the two options would be hair transplants, but you must see a good hair transplant surgeon who has experience in this type of problem and you must be examined prior to making any such recommendation.
