Nipple piercings after breast lift with implants?

I am having Breast Lift with Implants next Friday and I currently have nipple piercings that are nine months old. I purchased medical grade flexible piercing retainers to put in immediately after surgery. As long as the retainers are sterilized and kept clean, is this a safe decision? I can have the titanium jewelry autoclaved before I put them back in, but at what point should I put them back in?
