Is swimming allowed after laser tattoo removal?

We generally do not recommend taking part in activity that may lead to infection for at least a week or two post-procedure, as this skin is increasingly susceptible at this time.

It is not recommended to swim/soak in water after laser tattoo removal treatment until the area is completely healed, which can take 7-14 days. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

We typically do not restrict swimming in our patients after laser treatments for tattoo removal. That being said it is best to avoid sun exposure and unclean lakes and rivers. Also, you need to check with your treating physician.
