Is the tattoo supposed to turn a whitish color during removal?

i had my first tattoo removal session, but i watched videos of what it's supposed to look like while getting it done. the tattoo turns a whitish color, but mine did not. is this normal?

Thank you for your question in regards to laser tattoo removal.Yes, that is called a "frosting effect". When this happens, it suggests to the technician that the ink is responding to the laser. If frosting did not appear, the appropriate settings or even wavelength may not have occurred. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Most tattoos will turn a white color after treatment with a tattoo laser because gas builds beneath the skin. This gas is absorbed in about 15 minutes. If you didn't get this reaction, it might be that the laser was not the appropriate wavelength, not enough power was used, or it could be a normal reaction. This is called an "end point" during treatment, what you look for to see if the treatment was successful. Other endpoints are swelling, redness, and petechia.
