Implants can be safely removed whether or not you know which implant is in place.

It is not necessary to have the implant information in order to have the implants removed.  If you would like to have this information prior to surgery for other reasons you can contact the manufacturer.  The surgeon may have registered the implants with the manufacturer after surgery.

This is always helpful information if you can get it but most experienced plastic surgeons have other techniques including measurements and 3-D imaging to help gauge the size of the implants you have. In the case of implant removal alone, the details make little difference.  If you are considering a lift of the remaining breast tissue after removal or you want to put smaller implants back in, thisbinformation is helpful. In most cases, you do not need your implant card for implant removal. It would help to know if the implants are saline or silicone gel but they can still be removed without knowing. You can also call Mentor and see if they have a record on you.
