I recommend that my patients STOP all sources of Aspirin or other Pain medicine or Cold Preparations 10 days before surgery. Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen, and Pepto-Bismol all contain agents that will thin your blood and cause surgical complications. I issue the same precautions following surgery and recommend Tylenol instead. Your surgeon may have a different protocol, so best to check with him or her.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thanks for your question, Charliemilf.I generally recommend for my patients to avoid Ibuprofen up to 4 to 5 days after a BBL, as this medication can promote post-operative bleeding. Please always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.Take care, Moises Salama M.D., Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
I do not like patients taking NSAID's after surgery. They can cause bleeding. You are better off with Tylenol or other pain pills as long as you do not have an allergy to them.
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question. It is safe to take ibuprofen, unless you have a contraindication like gastric ulcers or circulations problems. But, i recommend you to get in touch with your plastic surgeon to ask him/her directly.Good luck :)

Dear karmella09,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. 15 minutes drive shouldn't cause any severe damage. Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. So...
BBLs are considered cosmetic procedures, not medical necessities; and are, therefore, not covered by health insurance.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
