When should you start cleaning the stitches and put scar cream on to minimize the scars ? What is best to use to clean the site & what is best to use for scars ?
Answer: Scar Cream 1 week after the BBL procedure i recommend my patients, scar guard or Siligen. Any scar cream is helpful as Lipo scars are fairly small and should heal in a matter of weeks if not days. Scar cream will help with the appearance of the small openings over time and help them fade.

Answer: Length of time after BBL for applying scar cream As an author of Scars and Scar Revision in Reoperative Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, I am well versed in the potential treatment options. One treatment (silicone sheets) may be helpful for one patient while another treatment (mederma) may help another patient. No particular scar treatment is better than another. The scars from liposuction will continue to fade in most cases for at least one year. I advise that scars not be exposed to sunlight for the first year due to risk for hyperpigmentation. If the scars are elevated or irritated or there is exuberant scar tissue, injections of several items may be helpful. Scar revision surgery can lessen the scar. Other alternatives such as Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) lasers (Fractora, Lumecca) may be beneficial. Laser may be reasonable after the initial phase of scar healing is complete at the 6 week mark in an uncomplicated case. However, I usually recommend waiting longer, because time will usually be the best help, particularly in a good scar former. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Scar cream Dear chasityv, incisions after a BBL are small and they heal quickly. If you are healing well, you should start using silicone based gel 7-10 days after the surgery. It would be the best to check it with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Scar Cream We typically have our patients start using their scar cream 2 weeks post op, after we have seen how the incisions are healing during their first appointment. Some doctors suggest starting to use the scar cream 7-10 days after surgery.
