Do I have a bad Tummy Tuck? (photos)

Question

I had a tt with lipo of the iliac crests in dec. I think my scar is very crooked and that I have dog ears on the sides also. My ps tells me it I am still swollen and the sides will correct themselves with time. I don't know. Did I receive a botched tt?

The first thing you must realize is that you are only about three months away from a big procedure.  Most tummy tuck results take up to a year to heal and obtain the final result.  Do you have dog ears?  Too early to say, however, if you do end up with them, they are easy to remove in the office under a local anesthesia in most situations.  Is your scar crooked?  Again, too early to tell.  Sometimes swelling above the scar pushes the scar down temporarily so it looks uneven.  A crooked scar is also correctible in the future if it does not straighten itself out.  You do not have a botched tummy tuck repair.  Please be patient and trust your doctor.

Congratulations on your decision to proceed. Now that you are post-op, give you surgeon and yourself "a chance". Yes, there is still a bit of changing that one should expect as the swelling resolves. The belly button looks great and the contour is much improved. The redness of the incisions frequently take up to 18 months to look pale and flat. It is very important that you weigh yourself weekly as weight fluctuations will alter the post operative appearance.

Remember that it can take up to a year for the swelling to fully resolve after a tummy tuck. And scars take at least a year to fully mature before they start flattening and fading. Give your body time to heal so you can see your final shape/results. Good luck!

While your scar presently looks reddish and prominent, it will fade over the next year. You are likely still swollen and I would recommend waiting a minimum of one year before undergoing revision. Hang in there and follow your surgeon's advice , especially on scar management. Best wishes.Below is a scar that is 5 years old but was red for the first 18 months.
