I had 12 zirconia crowns put in two weeks ago to replace my old veneers. My dentist tried the crowns on before they were cemented and I could see small black triangles but my dentist said these black triangles will go away. I believed him so I signed off on it. After the crowns were cemented, a couple days later I returned for a follow up visit and complained about the black triangles and he said it will take 3 to 6 month. I don't believe these triangles will go away. please help!
Answer: Gum triangles i do not believe they will go away, this depends on the way the teeth were shaved down, and there are some tricks to make them not to show, but this depends on each patient s preparations, and also the layout of the crowns, if in 3 months those triangles do not disappear, they will need to change the crowns, and change the preparations, so you will modify this triangles...so they would not show.

Answer: Black triangles between crowns sometimes go away MOST of the time, the black triangles fill in spontaneously but can take up to 6 months. If not, the only solution is to remake the crowns. If this was a case with natural teeth, then Bioclear would be an option, but with crowns, we cannot add to the shape.

Answer: Black triangles These black triangles are caused by a flattening of the gum tissue "papilla" which typically fill in this area between the teeth. The ability of these papilla to recover depends upon the health of the bone and gum tissue. If the bone level reduces then the gum tissue papilla will follow and can form those triangles. If the papilla were previously flat and already had black triangles before treatment, they will most likely not return. Sometimes the papilla can also flatten if the temporary crowns that were present infringed upon the papilla or were too rough, ill fitting or overhung. This may be temporary but time will tell. I would suggest very high home care standards to keep the gum tissue healthy and give it some time. If they never return the option you have would be to replace the crowns with new ones that fill up the space by the gum line more. This could also open up a can of worms though because then it may be more difficult to clean/floss the crowns and the shape of them would be a little more bulbous at the gum line and you may not like the appearance of the crowns themselves as much.Black triangles are difficult for any dentist to deal with. Your crowns themselves look great, be patient and give some time.

Answer: Black triangles Best to give it some time. The gums are shaped to the previous veneers and need time to remodel. If they do not fill completely in six months, then I would be concerned. If they increase in size or are still present after 6 months, check with a "periodontist' (gum specialist) about a little tissue augmentation before you start thinking about new crowns (Zirconia crowns are a real bear to get off).

Answer: Black triangles Some of them appear to be inflamed and may heal in;others look like they may not. The only way to eliminate black triangles is to make the contact are where the teeth touch each other very long to "draw up" the gum tissue or in a sense, squeeze it together. It would be a shame to have to redo all of them. Why not give it the 3 mos and see if it is improving. I would also recommend looking at yourself as you smile naturally. It is rare for the bottom front teeth to ever show enough for those triangles to be visible. Some people show their full upper teeth when they smile and others do not. This could help you decide which ones you would like to replace if needed in a few months.
