Can topical tretinoin cause hair loss?

I've been using it for about three years and in that same time have had significant hair loss. I am 60 years old.

If you believe topical tretinoin is causing a side effect such as hair loss, see your doctor for an exam.  It can cause skin irritation.

It is possible that a vitamin A derivative can cause hair loss...  but overall it is very, very unlikely that topical tretinoin causes hair loss. Be sure to see a dermatologist who specializes in hair loss. I keep losing hair. That tells me that you should go back to your doctor and ask that doctor just what is going on with your head and your hair loss. This drug, used in combination with other drugs is used for hair loss treatment, but best get to your doctor who prescribed it and ask.
