Is this a side effect of Finasteride?

It all began in middle of july when my excessive shedding started.my scalp got really flaky, itchy, oily and inflammed. I started taking finasteride on 18th August. The shedding continued for a week after fin.I shaved of my head, cleaned my scalp by removing the flakes and now have regrown my hairs to a good length. But now my shedding had drastically reduced.Also the inflammation and itch has gone.Was it the effect of finasteride on MPB or was it scalp psoriasis. I am in a big dilemma.

You need to follow up with your doctor if you believe you are having a side effect.  It seems you have multiple issues such as scalp psoriasis.

Finasteride has many reported side effects and adverse effects, including breast tenderness, reductions in PSA levels, headache, decreased semen volume and others, but scalp changes are not generally reported. I think you had another underlying condition not related to your use of finasteride.

You have shown already that the early symptoms of finasteride, which are occasionally seen (shedding) have disappeared and the hair has come back. It sounds like you are doing the right things. You may have psoriasis, but you will need a doctor to evaluate this condition to tell you what is going on and to administer a treatment if this is an additional diagnosis.
