Root canal after tear trough fillers?

Question

Is there any issue starting root canal therapy/having dental work within a week after having Juvederm filler in my undereye/tear trough area? I have the appointment booked for filler already but my tooth is now causing me pain. Unsure if I should cancel the filler. Thanks for your help!

At the two week post treatment mark, the risk of infection related to your prior filler injections is minimal. The dermal filler used has settled by the two week mark. Do not receive dermal filler injections two weeks before or after dental work due to bacteria and infection. Unless you had unexpected complications, you should be good to go to proceed with your root canal.

I am sorry you are experiencing pain.
In our clinic we advised no dental work for 2 weeks after filler.  If there is a suspicion of infection we generally advise to wait for 1 month after any infection has subsided or completed the antibiotic course.

Your health and comfort is the bigger priority.  Address your dental concerns first.  If infection is present, wait until it has cleared and you are feeling well and healthy then you can have your filler treatment.

Your general health is a lot more important than a tear trough. I would definitely address the painful tooth first. Once your dental work is completed and you have absolutely no discomfort for a minimum of five days, then you can address your tear trough. About the tear trough, I would never add Juvaderm to that area on the face as it almost always causes a problem with the filler migration and Tyndall effect. Consider fat grafting first as it produces natural and permanent results, as long as the procedure is done by a plastic surgeon with lots of experience in fat grafting techniques.
