Question

I had thigh lift Dec the 19th pain is getting better I'm still on bactrim because drain hole was looking red and infection but now I have this on very top of leg does this look okay what do I need to do and what is the white stuff?

Hi and thanks for your question and photos! It is difficult to fully see your incision based on the photos.  The superior part of thigh lift incisions tend to have a more difficult time healing because of the location and tension on the incision.  This area tends to become more irritated from friction and lack of air.  I recommend showering daily with warm water and antibacterial soap, wearing compression as directed, applying bacitracin ointment, and seeing your plastic surgeon for regular follow ups as he/she is the best person to determine possible infection.  Hope this helps!

It appears that you have some separation of the incision. This is the most common issues we see with these procedures. I would have continued close follow up with your surgeon and follow their wound care instructions closely. Also make sure you are eating a lot of protein to help with healing.

You need to be seen by your surgeon to be assessed in person. You may be having some delayed healing of your incision, which is not uncommon after thigh lifting. Small areas of separation often need nothing more than simple dressings, but larger openings may need additional intervention. Redness, warmth, fever or significant drainage must be assessed by the surgeon in order to make sure there is no infection.

Thank you for your questions and sharing your pictures.This king of issues on inner thighs are ver common, because of the amount of tension on the wound line. Every surgeon handles this in a different way, I do advice my patients to use antibiotic ointment and to keep the wound clean and dry as possible. The best thing for you will be to contact your surgeon, rest and take it easy.
