What are the cost for high profile Sientra Breast Implants?

Hi Pandemic,     The high profile implant is an implant that project a little more than a moderate profile implant, and has a narrower base diameter.  A high profile can be saline, gel, or "gummy-bear".  So high profile and gummy bear are not necessarily the same.  The cost of a low or moderate or high profile gel implant is the same.  Profiles do not determine price.       We charge the same for Sientra implants as we did for the similar implants from the other two companies. It is my understanding from many of my friends who use Sientra, that they also charge the same for Sientra.Be sure to see only a board certified plastic surgeon (by ABPS - The American Board of Plastic Surgery) who is a member of ASAPS (The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and or a member of ASPS (The American Society of Plastic Surgeons). Also, ask if they have an established, high volume breast augmentation practice, performing several hundred breast augmentations each year. Ask to see their before and after photos if you didn’t see any on their website. If they are experienced, they should have several 100 breast implant patients for you to view. I would also recommend that your doctor offer you the chance to talk to past patients who would be happy to discuss their experience with you. You need to feel comfortable, so make sure the environment is safe as in an accredited surgery center. Also, ask a prospective surgeon if he or she has ever published journal articles in professional peer-reviewed journals, which they can provide you.If you are seeing a "Sientra" plastic surgeon he/she is already board certified because Sientra only sells to BC plastic surgeons (by ABPS - The American Board of Plastic Surgery) who are members of ASAPS (The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and or a member of ASPS (The American Society of Plastic Surgeons). Also Sientra is the only implant company who has a warrantee if you develop a capsule after receiving their textured implants. They have a special process which makes the texture. A board certified surgeon in your area should be able to give you a detailed cost analysis for breast augmentation with Sientra implants. The profile type does not alter the cost of the implant. There is a cost difference between shaped and round Sientra implants.

I'm not sure from your question if you have seen an ABPS-certified plastic surgeon yet in consultation, or if you have done research (good) on your own and have formed some opinions about what implants you may want to have, and are asking for additional input here (also good).My only concern is that you don't quite have some basics yet, and are asking some questions that show some gaps in your understanding. For instance, "gummy bear" implants usually refer specifically to the McGhan (now Allergan) style 410 shaped textured highly cohesive silicone implant. All 3 USA implant manufacturers make cohesive silicone gel implants, so they are often mistakenly called "gummy bear" implants, though they may not be shaped OR textured, and come in moderate, moderate plus, high, and ultra high profiles, as do saline implants. So HP does not = gummy bear or vice versa.Shaped textured silicone (cohesive) gel implants do cost more than smooth round cohesive silicone gel implants, which in turn cost more than smooth (or textured) saline implants. More cost does NOT = better!Like Dr. Windle's patients, mine would tell you "Why did you wait?" This is a highly gratifying operation for both patient and surgeon, BUT only if things work out as planned. So choose  your surgeon wisely, and listen to advice and recommendations carefully. Consider at least 3 consultations with ABPS-certified plastic surgeons who are all ASAPS members and do at least 100 breast augmentations per year. The breast implant is only a portion of the cost, and the implant itself cost to the plastic surgeon may be different based on the volume of implants that are purchased during the year, whether the surgery center purchases the implants (upcharge more), etc. This is basically the same for Sientra, Allergan and Mentor breast silicone implants. Sientra Implants are the most highly cohesive silicone (less likely to leak and more likely to retain shape) available for the most common implants used. TheC3 Program provdes textured breast implant patients with a guarantee beyond the standard manufacturer’s warranty.The experience of the surgeon, geographic location, length of the procedure, whether the procedure will be done in an out patient surgery center vs plastic surgeon's office, anesthesiologist (MD) vs nurse anesthetists (RN), whether the implant is shaped, etc. all make a substantial difference in the overall cost.On the brighter side, our mommy make over breast augmentation patients are some of the happiest patients we have and the discomfort is mainly just during the first few days following the procedure.

regardless of company or style with the exception of the shaped implants which can cost about $1000 more.  A straightforward augmentation (no lift) will run close to $6400 all inclusive (OR, ANES, MD, implants) using the gel implants.  All implants are cohesive but the true 'gummy bears' are the shaped implants since their shape does not change, regardless of their orientation.  You may need a lift and if you have nipple inversion, consider procedures to evert the nipple.  When I do the simplest thing, I will do this as a favor for my patients.

Our cost for Sientra HP Textured Round implants (Silicone) are $1600.00 and Sientra HP Shaped implants (Silicone) are $2500.00. The shaped implants offers a little more of a natural look vs. the round implants.

Breast augmentation is a big decision and it sounds like you
are struggling. The cost in terms of
dollars are variable because there are a lot of things that go into the
procedure. These can include things such
as:

The type of anesthesia. Conscious sedation is usually a little less
than general anesthesia.

Who provides the anesthesia. For instance anesthesiologists (MD) usually
charge more than nurse anesthetists (CRNA).

Where your surgery will be performed. A hospital operating room is usually more
expensive.

The type of implant.

Sientra has a round implant that comes smooth or
textured. These implants are usually
about the same price to you (if your surgeon’s office breaks out the price in
your quote) as the price or quote for silicone gel filled implants from the
other companies, Mentor and Natrelle. The
form stable, cohesive gel anatomically shaped implants are usually more expensive. Sientra’s shaped implant is about $1000 more
(for two). In other words you should
expect to pay an additional $1000 for your breast augmentation if you chose to
have these implants.

From my stand point, Sientra’s implants are well worth
it. The shape is literally a “wow” right
from the start. They look natural and
feel more natural, especially at the sides where they are more tapered than
other implants. This, combined with the
fact that Sientra has the capsule contracture warrantee, as well as the amazing
results I am seeing, I believe that this implant is the way to go.

You also asked about the emotional cost. There are many
studies that show most women get a tremendous boost in self-confidence with
breast augmentation and one study that suggested a dramatic improvement in a
woman’s comfort with her sexuality.

There is an alternative to breast augmentation with implants
and that is fat grafting. That procedure
will only take you up about one cup size though. I can tell you what you would hear from my patients if you had a chance to ask them, "Yes! Do it!"

Costs of Sientra implants can vary depending on the type of implant (shaped implants tend to be more expensive).  The cost for a pair of silicone implants can range from $1,500.00 to $2,500.00.  As with any surgery there is some discomfort for the first few days after the surgery, but most patients tolerate this well with oral pain medication.  One can consider a pain pump or longer acting local or regional anesthetics for those patients with low pain thresholds.  With regard to emotional costs, be certain you are considering this surgery for the correct reasons - don't be influenced by what other may have said  about your appearance.  Always remember that breast augmentation and/or breast lift is a luxury, don't sacrifice necessities for the surgery.  Best wishes, Dr Lepore.
