I previously had a tummy tuck in 2012, surgery went well but in the last year or so i have noticed my skin looser and very wrinkly when i sit down I currently weigh 115pds and since surgery I gained 10pds and lost them again. You cant tell when Im standing up, but it has gotten so bad I wont wear a two piece bathing suit, as I think my stomach looks like an older lady skin. So my question is. Can this be fixed with a revision and what would be the procedure if so? Thanks:)
Answer: Thin abdominal wall tissue Unfortunately, patient biology dictates, in part, surgery results. Your skin and subcutaneous fat is getting thinner and less elastic as you age and this type or wrinkling is unavoidable. It would be hard to guess whether additional skin removal would temporary improve current condition without clinical evaluation. You should discuss your options with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Revision? Thank you for your question and photos. If your skin is not wrinkling or sagging while standing up (it appears not to be), then you do not need a revision. It is natural for the skin to somewhat fold over when you are sitting so that when you stand, it flattens out.All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

Answer: Correcting Wrinkly Skin 3 years AFTER a Tummy Tuck As a rule Plastic Surgery does NOT stop aging; Only death does. The result a few months to a year after the tummy tuck IS the final result. Weight fluctuations, aging and skin damage, medical issues to say nothing of UV light and smoking; ALL of them take a toll on the skin.If the skin excess is visible ONLY where you are sitting, it is not a real skin laxity since removing this skin would make you unable to stand straight. If you DO have hanging skin standing up, then you and your surgeon should decide what would be the simplest solution. A revision Tummy Tuck (usually a Mini MAY be the answer) but the answer MUST be based on your examination. (I had a patient who returned to me 10 years after a Tummy Tuck and a subsequent massive weight loss where I was able to do another tummy tuck and correct the intervening changes. But this is not common).Good LuckPeter ALDEA MDMemphis, TN
