Is this a result of them being temporaries and will it improve with the final veneers? Is the size disproportionate to my features? I've already requested the side two be made a little shorter, but they still look really big to me.
Answer: Temporary veneer prototypes should appear how the final smile will look One purpose of the prototypes (temporary veneers) is to "road test" the look. This normally is done by creating a diagnostic waxup from impressions of your teeth, and the look is directed by YOU, the patient. If the waxup is acceptable to YOU, then your temporaries will look like that. Sometimes it looks great on the models and not in your mouth, so adjustments can be made before the final cementation. One issue is that you only did 4. This can limit the control we have on the proportions, and can lead to teeth looking too big or too small. By doing all teeth that appear in your smile (normally 8-10 teeth) then you can be sure they are proportioned correctly, and it also allows you to choose the color. Rarely is the patient happy with doing just 4 and bleaching the others when they desire a whiter smile. 4 veneers are fine when color is not important.

Answer: Temporary Veneers should look just like the real thing ... #RealSelf100 #DrSarahThompson Hello there,Your temps should look just like your permanent veneers, so if there is anything that you do not like about them, I would be sure to let your dentist know now. This will allow you and him or her to make edits, prior to the final product. I have done thousands of veneer cases, and your temps look fine from what I can tell from the photos, but of course, I haven't examined them, so you could be right about them being too round for you. Good luck and I hope this helps. Follow me if you have more questions.Sarah Thompson, DMDSt. Louis, MO area (O'Fallon, IL)Real Self 100

Answer: Veneer temporaries It's critical in my practice that the temporaries mimic the size and shape of the permanent reatorations as closely as possible. How else can you or your doctor know what to expect? It would have been nice if you had posted a full face picture of yourself to see if the size and shape of the temps look proportionate to your face. Personally, the temps look pretty good. But, your personal desires are critical and you need to speak with your dentist immediately before the permanent reatorations are fabricated. Don't accept anything you're not happy with.
