As always an excellent experience. Dr Baker is wonderful. As someone who gets nervous at the dentist, Dr Baker (and the staff) do everything they can to make you comfortable and at ease. They explain everything throughly. Would highly recommend.
I had a new hygienist today. I normally go to Nancy. Was very sad to hear she was no longer there. Wish I had a chance to say goodbye. However, Beverly was great! I'm happy to have her as my new hygienist. Thank you!
Had such a memorable experience with Dr. Huckabee that I wanted to write a note. He noticed my teeth slipping so he suggested I use Invisalign to re-align my top teeth and straighten my bottom ones. When I completed this process and began to wear the retainers, I purchased some Ultra-White to use in those trays at night to whiten my teeth. My husband said I look years younger!
I originally went to Dr. Huckabee's office to have a molar extracted, and decided to have a tooth implant. The procedure took several months which I expected as I had a bone graft also to the area. I wanted to ensure my bone would support the implant as I'm passed 65. I had the implant added to my mouth last week and have experienced complete use of the tooth. At first the tooth felt strange as I had had an opening there while my mouth healed, but after several days, it seems as if I have my original tooth back less the pain. The office was very concerned about my care throughout the process and I was treated with respect and cordiality.
My experience with reimplanted teeth is they eventually all fail. Placement of a dental implant is the best way to treat this.
The answer is it depends. The zirconia (all porcelain) option is the strongest. The acrylic option is not as strong but often looks better cosmetically. Having an upper and lower zirconia all on four will often produce teeth clicking sounds that patients find annoying. Then there are biting and wear issues. Zirconia is a better choice when the opposing teeth are natural or crowns especially if grinding is an issue. if an upper and lower all on four are done it the same time I will often make the top zirconia and the lower acrylic. Excessive grinding with upper and lower zirconia can place heavy strain on the dental implants and cause failure. People lose teeth for different reasons including cavities, gum disease ,grinding and sometimes a combination of more than one. The plan to replace your teeth should consider those factors. Your dentist should be able to guide you to the pros and cons of both materials and make a decision that would be the best for your situation
From your enclosed CT it looks like the tooth has a vertical fracture which means it is not salvageable. Extraction and implant would be the best choice here.
Mini Implants are less costly but in no way the same as a traditional dental implant. Mini implants also have a relatively high failure rate. Most people still love their implants year later. In 10 years most mini implants will have failed in that time.
After the initial placement of the healing all on four (teeth), the swelling that occurs after surgery will subside. At this time often some space will be present between the healed gum tissue and All on Four bridge. Usually we want the bridge to stay in place to help the implants integrate (fully heal). After the 3 month mark we can remove the temporary bridge and add material to it so it once again lightly touches the gum area. This is most often done at the same time we take measurements for your final bridge.
