Hyperpigmentation after breast surgery? (Photo)

Thank you for your question.  Though difficult to tell without an in-person evaluation, the area of hyper pigmentation looks most like a patch of dry skin best treated with vigilant use of thicker moisturizer or ointment.  

This area of hyper pigmentation may not be related to your previous breast augmentation.  Try a good moisturizer if that does not help you may need to see a dermatologist.  

An in person evaluation will be more helpful than one based on just this photo.  It looks like the darkened areas may just be flakes of dry skin, and as a first step, a trial of moisturizer would be appropriate. If that does not fix the problem, a visit to your surgeon or to a dermatologist is in order. If the skin itself is dark, a prescription for Hydroquinone may be offered. All the best. 

Thanks for your question. It certainly looks like a patch of dry skin, which can occur after BA surgery. I would try a few weeks of aggressive moisturization of your skin. If you get no improvement, I'd refer you to a dermatologist. Best wishes.

Hi Phantomhera.  Sorry to hear about your hyperpigmentation.  An in-person evaluation would be best, but here are some thoughts that may help.  If you have been going to a tanning bed, the stretched breast skin is more likely to tan/burn, or hyperpigment.  If your breasts are rubbing together in your bra, this can chronically irritate the skin which could lead to hyperpigmentation.  Whatever the cause, you might be a good candidate for treatment with a topical lightening product called "Hydroquinone".  Don't waste your money on over-the-counter products that contain this ingredient.  They are typically too weak to help.  See your PS or a dermatologist to get prescription-strength hydroquinone.
