10 days post op. 375 cc HP silicon, submuscular. Previous size 34A. Driving when I unexpectedly hit a bunch of potholes & very uneven road. Slowed car but breasts bounced & vibrated for several seconds. 5 min later breasts felt tender & tight in chest. Came home & changed out of underwire bra to surgical bra, which felt tighter fitted than before. In shower breasts each went totally numb when lifting respective arm; feeling returned when put arms down. How worried should I be about this? Thx
Answer: Is it too early for my breasts to bounce/vibrate? Minimal & equal swelling both breasts but worried I've hindered healing? You are still very early in the post-operative period. It typically takes 3 - 6 months for the swelling to subside and and implants to settle into proper position. Swelling usually accounts for 10 - 15% of the initial post-operative appearance. The implants may swell asymmetrically, as in your case, but usually settle evenly. Please discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon. Also, make sure you follow all of your plastic surgeons post-operative instructions regarding level of physical activity and use of a support bra. Hope this helps and good luck with your recoveryRegards.

Answer: Jostling after augment I would not worry. The main factors which determine the position of an implant are the dimensions of the pocket which the surgeon creates at the time of surgery. While of course you should avoid any unnecessary trauma and strain in the few weeks after surgery, in reality, which you are describing should not have much bearing on your ultimate outcome. Severe forces such as a car accident making your breast hit the steering wheel, or falling directly onto her implants is another story. But, some bouncing and vibration for a few seconds really should not have done damage. Discuss this with your surgeon to keep them apprised.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA

Answer: Breast Augmentation - Post Op Concerns Thank you for your question. Although you are still very early in the post-operative period, it is unlikely the vibration you experienced would cause bleeding in the breast. Please discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and have an in-person examination. Also, make sure you follow all of your plastic surgeons post-operative instructions regarding level of physical activity and use of a support bra. Hope this helps and good luck with your recovery.

Answer: Too early to judge outcome At this point in your recovery, it is much too soon to be worried about the outcome. It takes time for the implants to settle into position and the skin and muscle to stretch out to accommodate the new implant. It may be 6 months or more before the shape has reached its final look. Be patient. At 10 days you should not be wearing a bra. After breast augmentation I find no particular advantage to the use of surgical bras. In fact, I find that they can do more harm than good. They hold the implants too high, preventing them from dropping into position. In addition, they can put pressure on the healing breast or the wound. They provide no advantage. If the surgery was performed correctly, external appliances after surgery are unnecessary to achieve the appropriate final implant position. At one month we allow the patients to wear a soft cup bra with no underwire. At two months, they can wear any bra with a wire without push up. Before three months it is not wise to buy a whole new set of bras. By six months, the bra size is not going to change. You need to try bras on. Being measured is almost never productive and almost always oversizes. Find the ones that you like the way they fit.

Answer: Breast issue Changes in your symptoms are probably best reviewed with your surgeon in person. Vibration early post-op is often associated with muscle spasm.
