Hi, I am 23 years old . I am a plus size girl and I've lost some weight in the past year but I'm content at the weight I'm at now. I do wish I had a better hourglass figure. I don't want to be skinny or small so my question is how can I get a bbl for a better shape without having to get under 200 pounds? Thanks

Thanks for the question.

In this regard, I recommend you a Tummy Tuck to get a flat abdomen and waist and back Liposculpture, getting better curves especially in the waist, improving your body contour.

Finally, I suggested take the fat we get and transfer to the buttocks and hips, to mold them and get better volume, contour and butt projection, is that we know as "Brazilian Butt Lift" (BBL).

generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a tummy tuck, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

If you are healthy and have a BMI of 30 or less, you can have lipo and BBL. Maximal fat must be harvested without creating any contour deformities. Fat can be harvested from the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, etc. and transferred to the hips and buttocks. If the waist was smaller at one time, the waist can likely be reduced with liposuction to those same measurements or smaller provided the muscular and facial integrity has remained the same. Consult via email or Skype with a board certified PS to determine if the results you are seeking are realistic.

To be a candidate for plastic surgery, in general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 33 or less.
l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.

There are two reasons why BMI are a concern for plastic surgeons. 1) safety issue - a BMI greater than 32 has an increased risk of complications associated with surgery such as infection, blood clots, wound healing problems etc (this risk increases as your BMI increases above a 32) 2) cosmetic outcome - in order to give you the typical look of a BBL (small waist with larger butt/hips). At your current size, we cannot remove enough excess fat around your waistline to get your waist to be smaller than your buttock/hips in order to look like an hourglass. You would likely need 2-3 surgeries to do this and each would hold significant risk of complications. It is in your best interest from a safety and financial standpoint to follow the recommendations of the PS that you consulted with.

​A healthy BMI is between 15 - 24, the maximum recommended being around 30. If you are above 30, then you are encouraged to lose weight before undergoing surgery. The higher the BMI the higher the chance of complications. If you are a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique.
