Hi kathyThere are varying degrees of this condition, as some inverted nipples can be reversible with stimulation, changes in temperature, or suction cups while others cannot. The most common underlying causes of inverted nipples are short ducts and other tethering tissues that pull the nipple inward. Cosmetic surgery helps correct these issues. Hello, inverted nipple surgery is usually an effective and permanent way to correct this issue, and it can be done under local anesthetic. There are multiple described techniques and they have varying complication rates (like infection, numbness, nipple loss, scarring, and recurrent inversion) so you would need to have a proper consultation with a surgeon who can discuss the operation in more detail.
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Correction can be done in an office-based procedure under local anesthesia. Results can be quite good with an overall easy recovery. Be sure to see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation. They will offer you the best solution. Hope this helps.
Inverted nipples is condition that can be successfully treated in local anesthesia. Short milk ducts are released (cut) and nipple dome is filled with local flap tissue. In some patient duct sparing is possible. Some over-correction is needed because nipple will retract in 3-6 months. Revision surgery is sometimes needed due to resilient condition and scarring.A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in nipple reconstruction would give you a chance to discuss your options. Good luck.
Inverted nipples can be repaired with an easy in office procedure performed under local anesthesia. I perform a milk duct sparing inverted repair and the recovery is quite minimal. Hope this helps and best wishes.
Hi and thanks for your photos-Inverted nipple correction is a fairly simple procedure that can be done under local anesthesia and is very well-tolerated by most women. There are various different approaches. I have had excellent success with a simple method that involves cutting the tight attachments under the nipple that are causing the inversion. This method leaves little if any scarring and is usually predictable and permanent. It may, however, interfere with a woman's ability to breastfeed and possibly with nipple sensation. Please see an experienced plastic surgeon who does lots of breast surgery, and s/he will be able to give you personalized advice.Best wishes-
