I had vaginal reconstruction surgery for prolapse of the bladder and recitals. I have 5 kids and after I had my 3rd which was my biggest at 9lbs that's when I got the prolapse. Had the surgery last April. I thought that I would get feeling back in my v during sex, nope still nothing. What is going on, why can't I feel sex? Would an o shot or vaginal tightening surgery help where I get feeling back again? I haven't been able to feel sex since 2016 when I had my 3rd child so for 6 years this is miserable.

Answer: Why doesn't vaginal reconstruction tighten your vagina? Vaginal reconstruction for prolapse aka pelvic floor reconstruction is only focused on fixing the sagging of the vaginal walls. It does this by repairing the vaginal supports. Nothing more, nothing less. Vaginal tightening operations (aka vaginoplasty) is focused on fixing the loose muscles in the vagina and at the perineum. However, if you have prolapse, fixing the prolapse must be done before you can tighten the vagina because the muscles sit on the vaginal supports. An expert in vaginoplasty usually does both of these operations at the same time. It's perfectly acceptable to do the vaginoplasty at a later time in a situation such as yours. I would recommend that you seek out a virtual consultation with an expert to get more information.

Answer: Feeling more sensation post vaginoplasty Thank you for sharing your story—and I'm truly sorry to hear how long you’ve been dealing with these challenges. It's more common than people think, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating or disheartening. When it comes to lack of sensation during intercourse—especially after pelvic organ prolapse repair—there are a few potential reasons: Nerve disruption or scarring from surgery can reduce sensation. Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction may persist even after prolapse correction. Laxity or reduced blood flow in the vaginal tissues can contribute to feeling “numb” or disconnected during intimacy. Based on what you’ve described, you may benefit from a combination approach. Here’s how we typically help patients like you: The O-Shot® (PRP injection): This helps stimulate nerve regeneration, improve blood flow, and increase sensitivity and sexual response. Many women report improved ability to orgasm and enhanced pleasure after this simple, in-office treatment. Vaginal Tightening (Vaginoplasty): If there is persistent laxity or stretching of the vaginal canal, surgical tightening can restore tone and support, which may help with friction and sensation during intimacy. Laser or RF Therapy: Treatments like Votiva or ThermiVa can improve tissue quality, lubrication, and mild sensation loss—but are less effective than surgery for more significant concerns. I’d recommend coming in for a detailed evaluation where we can assess what’s going on anatomically and tailor the best solution for you. The goal is not only to restore function but to help you feel like yourself again. We’re here for you, and I’d be honored to help you take the next step toward feeling better. Warmly, Dr. David Ghozland

Answer: O- Shot Option Hi, I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector here at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. The O-Shot is a non-surgical treatment that uses your body’s own platelet-rich plasma (PRP), gently injected into the vaginal area to help stimulate tissue regeneration. Many women have reported improvements in sensitivity, arousal, natural lubrication, and even bladder control after treatment. If you're looking for a non-invasive option, the O-Shot can be a wonderful place to start. The best next step is always a personalized consultation with a skilled provider who specializes in such concerns, where you can talk through your goals and create a treatment plan that’s just right for you.

Answer: CO2 Laser & Morpheus8 V can help improve sensation. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing discomfort after your surgery. To provide you with the most accurate guidance, I'll need more information about your surgery, including details about mesh placement, the extent of cystocele/rectocele, and specifics about your childbirth experiences. Your age, the sizes of your babies, and the duration of your deliveries are also important factors to consider. While the O-Shot can enhance sensation in specific areas, initially I would suggest treatment options like a CO2 laser or the Morpheus8 V which combines radiofrequency with deep microneedling. Both of these options are minimally invasive and can offer benefits such as improved sensation, a more youthful appearance, and enhanced lubrication. It's not uncommon for me to use various medical therapies to attain the desired result for my patients. Make sure that your cosmetic gynecologist discusses all the available options with you!

Answer: Your options First of all, I want to say I’m so sorry to hear of your troubles. That is not an expected result after having the surgery that you had. Though it is no guarantee, I do believe that using some PRP as in Oshot and maybe some scattered injections throughout your vagina would help increase sensation. Additionally, you might like to try some vaginal rejuvenation treatments like Morpheus8V or CO2 laser for your vagina. These treatments help improve collagen and elastin and help rejuvenate the vaginal tissue. These are all just suggestions to try and help you with your problem, if you are anywhere near the Louisville Kentucky area, consider coming to see us for a consultation. Our double board-certified gynecologist is an expert in pelvic prolapse surgery, which you already had and may have some insight into your current condition, additionally she is also an expert in a number of cosmetic vaginal treatments and surgery. I hope this has helped.
