Is it possible topical Dutasteride is worsening hair loss?

11 years ago I was diagnosed with AGA (26 yrs old). Tried finsterid but had awful side ef, so I stop. Loss has been focused on temples. 1.5years ago started minoxidil topical & oral (first 2mg, now 4mg) which worked OK. To boost response doctor prescribed to keep oral and change to minox + Dutasteride topical. But 4 months later I have been enduring massive shedding, losing density and hairs falling are miniaturized as never before. Is dut making things worse? Should I go back to only minox?

When starting dutasteride topical treatment, some users may experience initial shedding, which is a temporary increase in hair loss before seeing regrowth. This shedding occurs because the hair follicles enter a new growth cycle, pushing out old hairs to make room for new ones. It's a common response to many hair loss treatments and often indicates that the medication is working to stimulate hair growth. However, if shedding persists for an extended period or is excessive, it's advisable to consult a hair expert to ensure proper management.
