How long until I can push a stroller or vacuum after under muscle Breast Augmentation?

Question

Curious how long after surgery until it's safe (or not painful) to push a stroller or vacuum cleaner? I am going with silicone UHP 500+\-cc dual plane. I have two kids and am very active. I know it should be about 6 weeks until I can lift my kids. Ps this feels like the ultimate stay at home mom / housewife problem ever! Silly I know. Thanks!

Typically, I ask that my patients wait 3 weeks to resume aerobic activity and heavy lifting.  Because pushing a stroller or vacuuming engages your chest muscles, I think 3 weeks is an adequate amount of time.  Every PS is different, though, so I would ask your PS what he prefers.  Good luck!

I recommend no heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling (on excess of 5 lbs.) post-operatively. This is recommended for at least 2 weeks post-operatively and pending no complications will likely stretch to about 6 weeks.  During this time you will wear a compression bra (i.e.: sports bra), to be worn morning and night  to help with placement.  Reminder, even if you feel you are able to lift, push, or pull, you are still healing from the inside out and can cause injuries and healing issues.  Always contact your surgeon for clearance before going back to normal activity post-operatively.

The main concern is straining causing bleed post operatively (hematoma).  Most would agree that there is minimal risk for this occurring after 2 weeks. But as others have said, consult with your plastic surgeon because we all have our own post op recovery recommendations.  Best of luck

I usually tell my patients to wait about 3-4 weeks for light aerobic activity. This would include light house work.  Best of luck.
