Do I have tubular / constricted breasts??

Question

I'm wanting to get a BA end of this year and am concerned they will come out strange and pointy because my boobs are slightly pointy and don't have the natural drop to them that I like. They look constricted too me. Will I need another procedure done with my Ba?! Are my ideal pictures with the drop /natural look realistic for my breast?

Here are the features of the tuberous breast include:1) Puffy or herniated areola.2) Widely spaced breasts.3) High breast fold.4) Constricted lower pole or deficient tissue in lower part of the breast.5) Minimal breast tissue.6) Narrow base or small "footprint" of the breast.I do not feel that you have tuberous breasts. No I think you'll do great.....You may have a bit more dense breast tissue but it does not appear "tubular" or needing anything extra other than augmentation!

Hi Annemarie,You have a little tissue herniated in the nipple area, and are tight along the lower pole, so you only have a slight tendency towards TB.  I would recommend a dual plane approach.  See web references below.  All the best, Dr. Joe

Dear annemarieI'm not sure if you were told you have a constricted breast but based on your pictures, you have normal breasts that can be augmented in a single stage with excellent results. Mild asymmetry and slight differences are normal in breasts and should not be of significant concern to you. You can get the results that you want based on teh pictures you have posted. Look for experienced and well trained surgeons who are certified by the American Board of Plastic surgery. Go on more than one consult so you can make a well informed decision.

It does not appear the you have significant constriction of your breasts. They do not appear tubular. I think that you would have a very nice result with a breast augmentation. Your wish photos appear to be realistic as you have a great starting place.

Thank you for your question.  In reviewing your photos, it appears you have a slightly shorter "distance" from the nipple to crease.  So it is possible that you have subtle constricted breast. I would seek out a consultation by a board certified plastic surgeon and ask he or she . Every patient has subtle nuances of their anatomy. I think it's important to realize no patient's breasts are ever "identical twins".  Every patient will always have some subtle asymmetry from one side to the other and its important to recognize that before surgery.  The "example" photos you have selected are patients generally with very large implants for their frame and they all have slightly different anatomy than you do. The same implant they have many not even "fit" on your frame or your tissues.  In simple terms, breast augmentation "stretches" the skin and breast tissues to expand. You have a slightly "shorter" distance (and possible tighter fold or crease)  from the nipple to the crease below the breast and that tissue can only expand so much at any one time or one surgery.  I have even had some patients that wanted to be bigger that had to do their "expansion" in "two steps."  So if you ultimately want to be quite large, it is possible you may need a second procedure. From viewing your photos you do appear to have some asymmetry. Without examining you and performing measurements it is hard to call your breasts constricted. A board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in handling more complex augmentations should be able to give you the look you want as well as take into account any asymmetries. They may have to lower the fold on one side to match the other.Best of luck.
