Can strattice be used with subglandular implants?

Question

I've had way too many problems with submuscular implants and I want to switch back to my original over the muscle implants. I need strattice though for support, but don't know if that's possible?

It’s possible in general but implants over the muscle can be very problematic - higher chance of rippling, higher chance of encapsulation, less support so looks saggy like a rock in a sock, makes mammogram more difficult to read …

Hi Missavila!  A biologic mesh such as Strattice can definitely be used in a subglandular augmentation.  I frequently utilize a subfascial/sublandular position for my augmentations and commonly use Strattice for extra support, especially in revisional implant surgeries.   Revision breast surgeries can be a challenge, so I encourage you to seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in surgery of the breast.  Best of luck in your aesthetic journey!

Strattice is definitely an option for over muscle implants and probably a good idea. A Strattice internal bra will add the coverage and support that is lacking with over muscle implants. Consider also a high cohesivity gel to minimize rippling.

Yes you can use Strattice in the sub glandular position. It would not provide you as much support as in a sub muscular position because there is not strong tissue to suture the Strattice to in the sub glandular position as there is in the sub muscular position. However, the Strattice will significantly reduce your chances of developing a capsular contracture and also provide you with more coverage of the implant which will decrease your chances of seeing the implant or seeing any rippling.
