Is it normal for scars to look the same after Bellafill?

I recently had subcision, bellafill and venus viva used for my acne scars. the first 3 days my face was so swollen that the acne scars looked invisible the swelling is obviously going down but the acne scars are again visible. I was given three bellafill syringes but I am now wondering if I made the wrong decision to do this.

It can take several months for final results with Bellafill. Keep in mind, scars need a combination approach of lasers, Cosmelan, microneedling/prp, subcision and fillers. It will take a series of treatments and may need life-long treatments to maintain. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

It is way too early for you to decide the results of your acne scar treatment. Final results take 4 months or longer with Bellafill. I have had patients show up in 2 months with minimal improvements and with no further therapy, have improvements seen in 2 months. The collagen in the filler is broken down by the body in the first 3-6 weeks and it takes longer for the body to stimulate collagen around the PMMA spheres. Most people need multiple treatments with Bellafill and other therapies to get the best results for your acne scars.

Thank you for your question. Bellafill is a bio-stimulator in that over time it will produce new collagen. The treatment plan you have undergone seems appropriate and with time you should see improvements. Treatment of acne scars takes a multi-modal approach which is what you are undergoing.
