It's been 9 months and Juvederm is still there? (Lips)

Hello. I'm a 19 year old male. First, I got injected with half a syringe of Juvederm 1 year ago and then got injected with a full syringe 3 months after that (9 months ago). With 1/2, the difference was subtle, with a full syringe, I really liked the results. However, it seems like not even half of it is gone! Well, I'm totally okay with this but should I worry? What might be the reason of the filler lasting this long?

Hello. Glad to hear you’re happy with your results! It doesn’t sound like you have anything to worry about. JUVÉDERM® can last up to 12 months in the lips, so it’s not out of the ordinary that your results haven’t completely faded away just yet. I would suggest waiting until you notice a visible difference in your lip volume before adding more filler. Basically, keep enjoying your results!

I don't think there is anything to worry about. It is not uncommon for Juvederm to last between 9-12 months in the lips.

If you are still happy with the appearance, wait until the volume starts diminishing enough that you feel the lips have deflated through absorption of the Juvederm and then be reinjected with a full syringe, since you liked that result. Each patient absorbs/metabolizes fillers at a different rate but it is not unusual for it to persist over 9 months in some patients. Nothing to be worried about - many patients WISH their fillers lasted this long as it is highly individualized.

You need not worry at all, in fact it is quite common for patients to retain Juvederm or Restylane in their lips for years as the breakdown of the product depends on the metabolism of each individual. Enjoy your results and good luck from New York City
