ive always wanted a chin implant, but im always afraid of it moving. i think about all the times my chin is exposed or under pressure. i play sports, i get hit in the face, and i also like sleeping on my face and perform oral sex. is any of those things going to make the impant move out of its place?
Answer: What would cause a chin implant to move? With proper placement of a chin implant on bone in a pocket formed by the periosteal bone covering, its rare that the implant will move after 6 weeks from surgery because it becomes fixated on the bone.Prior to this fixation, if you bump your chin, yes it can shift. This is a rare occurrence. The most common cause of implant shifting or being able to move it from side to side Is when it wasn't placed properly on bone. This can be revised and corrected.Ran Y. Answer: Chin Implant Fixation The best way to ensure a chin implant from moving, particularly in a young male who participates in sports, is to secure it with screw fixation. This will end all concerns about chin implant migration/displacement.

Answer: Displacement of a chin implant It is very rare for a chin implant ever become displaced, as long as it is put in the proper anatomical position underneath the periosteum and directly over the bone. Routine sports and getting bumped in the chin will not affect it. For many examples, please see the video and the link below

Answer: Chin Implant Questions Dear weakchin69, Chin augmentation is performed frequently in patients with active lifestyles and involvements in sports. As long as the chin implant is placed properly during the procedure then you should be fine without concern of shifting. There will be a recovery period after surgery that you will need to reduce your activities. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

Answer: Chin implant moving It is rare for a chin implant to become dislodged but strong direct trauma can do it. I had one case wherein a young woman struck her augmented chin against a windshield in an auto accident causing her chin implant to become mobile and need revision. The implant probably protected her against the jaw being fractured. if your sports are contact sports like soccer, boxing, wrestling or martial arts think about deferring most facial plastic surgery until you no longer do them. Sleeping and oral sex should not be a problem after chin augmentation.
