Why do a BBL and TT at the same time? (Photos)

Question

I noticed that when women get the BBL and TT, the tummy tuck is beautiful but the BBL, not so much so.. However when these procedures were done separately, the BBL is beautiful and so Is the TT.. I want all the emphasis to be on my Butt and liposuction/liposculpture so should I do these separately? Would it be too much stress on my body to do 2 separate procedures? Would I be better off doing my BBL first to avoid laying on it due to the BBL?

For safety reasons, to be a good candidate for the procedures you want at the same time, your labs and cardiovascular preoperative evaluation must be optimal.Therefore, you must be a healthy person, within an appropriate BMI and no history of diseases that increase the surgical / anesthetic risk degree.Finally, I recommend you a skilled certified plastic surgeon in body contouring surgery and experienced in cases like yours where the planned operating time is less than five hours.

Great question!  There are advantages and disadvantages to combining vs separating both procedures.  The advantage of combining is that you only undergo one surgery with one recovery period.  However, if you desire the best results, then splitting them into two procedures is best.  The reason for this is with a tummy tuck, only a limited amount of liposuction can be performed.  Liposuction can decrease the blood supply to abdominal tissue - normally this does not cause an issue, but combining this with the large incision from a tummy tuck, it can cause difficulty in wound healing.  Therefore the best result would be to perform liposuction with the BBL, then come back later to performed the tummy tuck.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai@DrRogerTsai

Hello and Great Question.  I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure.  My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel.  I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist.
I agree with you, when performed separately you will see far superior results!  Why is this?  Because of two reasons:  
Time Constrains:  Most surgeons like to keep an outpatient surgery (without a home nurse or overnight recovery/observation unit) to a maximum of 6 hours.  When combining a BBL with a Tummy Tuck, the multi-position changes and liposuction gets rushed.Blood Supply and Skin Survivability:  The more you beat up the skin from surgery the less chance it has to survive.  This become important with the TT.  If you did a TON of liposuction and the TT; then there is a higher likelihood of the tummy skin dying.
So why do people combine the surgeries? If it is a very small tummy tuck, then it is usually fine.  Some people don't want multiple surgeries.  Some are on a budget and want the minor cost saving when combining surgery.

Good afternoon. Thanks for your question. It is better to put a patient on anesthesia one time if it's possible. If your hemoglobin levels are high enough to have everything done at the same time, it will be great. You will get rid of the pain just once, and you will spend less money because you're having those areas at one procedure. not two or three. Like I said, everything depends on your surgeon, your body, and your health.

Thank you for your question and photos. The answer depends on how much sculpting you want to achieve on the abdomen. These can be done together with excellent results. If you are interested in the tightest abdomen with an athletic, youthful muscle definition, than I would do the VASER Hi Def Lipo 360 degrees first with a BBL, followed by an abdominoplasty 4-6 months later. Again, the advantage is better abdominal contouring and a shorter abdominoplasty scar. No two patients are every exactly alike.They have different anatomic findings, aesthetic goals, and also depend of the doctor's experience and specialty. Based on your photos you are a good candidate for the liposuction with BBL and a tummy tuck.
The combination of a liposuction with a traditional tummy tuck has become a very common procedure. It is safe to combine the two procedures mainly to address the hip and flank areas. This is a very effective way to extenuate the contour of the waist along with the abdominoplasty. It is also important to realize that there is usually a limit on how much fat can be remove in a combined procedure.
In general you may be a good tummy tuck candidate if: You are physically healthy and at a stable weight, You have realistic expectations, You are a non-smoker, You are bothered by the appearance of your abdomen. Also the fat transfer, often called Brazilian butt lift has become extremely popular because it allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. You improve your waist, hips and of course your buttock.When patients undergo this surgical combination, safety should be everyone’s first priority. For this reason, procedures of this magnitude should be performed in accredited surgical centers.
In contrast, performing these procedures simultaneously offers several advantages.These include synergy, less expense and one recovery.

Both can be done together, but it's a tougher recovery when these two procedures are done together, because it's hard to be in a position that is comfortable, that is not putting pressure on either area. If you have the ability and the time to recover from two separate procedures, you may be happier separating these two procedures.
