How deep does the dimple creation has to be cut? I want dimples but not overly prominent dimples. is dissolvable stitches recommended for dimple?
Answer: Dimpleplasty Thank you for your question There are different methods for creating dimples, some use a cut on the cheek, but the majority don't as most people don't want a scar on their face. Absorbable sutures can be used. The suture will be placed from inside your cheek to where you want your dimple. It's a small procedure performed under local anaesthesia.

Answer: Excision for created dimples is deep, but it's in the inside of the mouth. Non-dissolvable sutures are used for lasting dimples Thank you for your question. You are asking about how deep the incision is for dimpleplasty, and what type of sutures are used. You also ask if dissolvable sutures are used. I can certainly help you with this. I’m Dr. Amiya Prasad. I’m a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon and Fellowship Trained Oculoplastic Surgeon. I’ve been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years. Among my other specialties like eyelid surgery, facial cosmetic surgeries, and hair restoration, I’ve become well known for the niche surgery of dimple creation surgery, or dimpleplasty. Dimpleplasty starts with careful measurement from the edge of your mouth to your mid cheek, so I can determine the sweet spot of where a dimple would appear naturally if a person was born with them. I mark the area, and have the patient hold an instrument to depress that part of the cheeks, so they know where their dimples would be, and an approximate look when smiling. Once the patient agrees with the position in the cheeks, I proceed with the surgery. Dimpleplasty done with an actual incision. What I do is I excise some tissue from inside the cheek, through the inside of the mouth, to create an indentation when you smile. I then use non-dissolvable sutures to connect a muscle inside the mouth called the buccinator muscle, to the skin of the cheek. It’s important to use non-dissolving sutures because this connection needs to remain strong for long-lasting dimples to appear when smiling. During the healing process, the indentation in the cheeks will always be present, even when not smiling. This will fade within a few months so the dimples only appear when smiling. To maintain long-lasting dimples, it is important to control weight gain. If too much weight is gained in the face, the extra volume of fat can obscure the appearance of surgically created dimples. I hope you found this information helpful. Thank you for your question.
