Thank you for your question regarding swelling of your thighs five months after your thigh lift. Swelling is expected after any procedure, the thigh lift is no exception. After a thigh reduction, most thigh lift swelling should be gone at six to eight weeks. However, swelling five months after a thigh lift is NOT common . It is also more common to have a persistent seroma (or a collection of serous fluid) or possibly, even a resolving hematoma (or a collection of blood) in your thighs five months after your thigh reduction. Therefore, I suggest you follow up with your thigh reduction plastic surgeon. He or she needs to examine your thighs. If it indeed is a seroma, your seroma should be drained with a needle in the office. If it is a resolving hematoma, this may be able to be drained in the office with a needle; or it might need a small in-office draining procedure. In my opinion, I do not think you have just swelling in your thighs five months after a thigh lift. I think you have something else going on, like perhaps a seroma or hematoma . All in all, you should follow up with your plastic surgeon. I thank you for your questions and I hope that I have answered your question regarding swelling of your thighs five months after your thigh lift. I specialize in thigh lifts.
