Hello CentralCoast. Microneedling will absolutely NOT help with Poikiloderma. Poikiloderma is one of the most difficult to treat conditions in all of cosmetic dermatology. It is very resistant to treatment, but a series of pulsed dye lasers and IPL treatments can improve it. Microneedling is for texture issues like acne scars and would not improve the condition.
The gold standard for poikiloderma of civatte is vbeam laser. We perform the laser sessions often with excellent longterm results. In addition, I would use a retinoid cream to help stimulate exfoliation based on our Rapid Exfoliation Protocol. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian
Thank you for your question. This is difficult to answer without pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. Hyperpigmentation from any type needs a combination approach of peels like cosmelan, lasers like clear and brilliant and aerolase or laser genesis, radiofrequency like venus viva, and constant skin care and sun protection. Bimontly facials with silk peel dermalinfusion is essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. If you have acne you can do additional treatments and peels to get more improvement.I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer
No, microneedling will not help with Poikiloderma. IPL and vascular lasers (Vbeam, Excel V) will help improve poikiloderma.
Hi, thank you for the photos. Don't worry - it looks completely normal and you have not ruined your skin. Microneedling causes a lot of trauma to the skin, so it is normal for severe redness, swelling, pigmentation, and even bruising. Please allow 2 full weeks to fully settle and heal. Best of...
Thanks for your question. Being in the sun after micro-needling can just increase the risk of obtaining a sunburn, especially if you are prone to sunburn. Any sun exposure has its normal skin side effects of hyper/hypo pigmentation, dry/rough skin, wrinkles, and permanent sun damage. I would...
Hello - thank you for your photos and questions. Redness, swelling, and even some bruising is completely normal post microneedling treatment. However, your photos look a bit extreme, and it sounds (and looks) like you have an infection. Best option would be to go back to your provider...
Hello - thank you for your question and photos. Don't worry - it is normal to have severe redness, swelling and even bruising after an aggressive microneedling treatment. Under the eyes is a very sensitive area, so it is not surprising that you are experiencing some bruising there....
Hi @NNG11. I would avoid microneedling in tattooed areas and microbladed eyebrows. Microneedling will affect the pigment. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
