Lip filler looks uneven- injector only injected one side... is this normal? 1 day post Juvederm injection. (photo)

Swelling is a part of the healing process post lip injections with Juvederm. I would allow 2 full weeks until you ask your injector to alter your result. If she only injected one part of the lip it will most likely look uneven until the swelling subsides. If after two weeks it still appears uneven then I would contact your injector for a follow up appointment. Good luck.

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Dear laney_bee,Juvederm has significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Barrett, MD

Using a cannula long enough to reach the opposite side, a well -trained injector can inject the entire lip without difficulty. The benefit of the cannula usually are less pain and bruising. Early asymmetrical swelling is pretty normal at this point. I suggest you wait a full 2 weeks before considering a final volume or result and then discuss this with your injector/physician.

This can be typical after lip filler. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling after filler injections especially in the lips which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve and see your final results. You can help reduce some swelling by applying cold compresses to the treated area. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s as they tend to thin the blood and increase swelling and bruising. If you are unhappy with your final results you can have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase. I recommend following up with your injector in 2 weeks for an evaluation. Best of Luck!

Your injector may have injected the filler to the other side from the left side by advancing the needle to the right side; this is not uncommon in order to minimize the number of injection points. However, I prefer to inject from both sides to try to symmetrically place the filler and to assess the result from different angles as I work. Even if injection is symmetric (whether done from one side or both sides), swelling may not be, and you need to give a few weeks for things to settle, then reevaluate in the presence of your injector to see if a touch-up is needed.

Swelling can take at least 5-7 days after treatment, its to soon to know if you need more filler. To help the swelling go down apply Arnica gel or pills which is are over the counter products. It is normal to see your lips uneven be patient and let the filler set in. If after 10 days your filler still looks uneven then follow up with your lip injector.

It is way, way too early to cast any form of judgement. Give your lips a couple of weeks for the swelling to settle down. Good luck from New York City
