How soon can I take an ibuprofen? Today I’m a week post op. I had lipo and bbl. first two days were hell and I thought I was over the nausea and headaches but they feel like more like a migraine . Help!!

Thank you for your question! For my patients having any procedure, I instruct them to stop taking ibuprofen 2 weeks prior to and 3 weeks post surgery. I recommend discussing specific post op instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Hello and Great Question.  I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure.  My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel.  I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist.
I recommend all my patients anticipating surgery to stop taking certain medications, including aspirin, aspirin-like products, non- steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), prescription “blood thinners”, herbal supplements, and other medications. These medications must be stopped at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery.  I do recommend that you follow up with your surgeon to see what he/she recommends.

I recommend that my patients STOP all sources of Aspirin or other Pain medicine or Cold Preparations 10 days before surgery.  Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen, and Pepto-Bismol all contain agents that will thin your blood and cause surgical complications.  I issue the same precautions following surgery and recommend Tylenol instead.  
Your surgeon may have a different protocol, so best to check with him or her.  The only person who can answer your questions realistically is the plastic surgeon who performed your surgery.

This is totally up to your PS. Some do not care if you take an NSAID right away while others worry that it will thin your blood and cause more bruising or even a hematoma. A hematoma or blood collection can get infected. I ask my patients to wait 2 weeks.
