Hello! Congratulations! Now, this depends on what type of PCA peel you are receiving. While pregnant you are not able to use certain ingredients and acids, I would be on the safe side and ask whoever is performing the peel and see what type they are giving you, and always check with your doctors to see what they think is best for you also. Best of Luck!Dr. Julia Spears MD
Peels are likely safe during pregnancy, my suggestion however is to avoid them. Salicylic acid peels can theoretically cause "salicylate toxicity" if too much is used and Jessner's and TCA could be fetal harmful. The chance these get absorbed into the body is almost nothing, but there are no studies suggesting they are okay. For legal reasons most physicians wont do these, I have in many cases without any problems and with a good relationship with my patient. I, however, suggest avoiding any cosmetic procedures during pregnancy. Best, Dr. Emer.
Could it be safe? Sure but why take even a tiny risk. Let the practice know what is going on and make sure they will honor your payment for after pregnancy.
Thank you for your question. It is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or nursing to receive laser or chemical peel treatments. Although there hasn't been a lot of research on the negative side effects, why take an unnecessary risk. Speak with your provider about what is going on and ask them to give you a gift card to honor once you have your baby.Best Wishes,Pablo Prichard
