Is compression garment/tape necessary after a sliding genioplasty? What function does it play?

Sliding genioplasty is a frequent procedure in my office and we do not place a comprehensive dressing following the surgery. The incision is inside so there is no bandage necessary. We recommend ice for swelling for the first 48 hours. Good luck
