10 months post-op - Skin in center of my stomach is discolored. Will this improve? (Photo)

I had a tummy tuck 10 months ago. I’ve had issues with the colour of the skin in the center of my stomach since the procedure (area circled in pic). When I work out or shower, this area is very noticeably darker than the rest of my skin (seems to be related to heat). I’ve recently started tanning and the same area will not tan as much as the rest of my skin, which is fairly noticeable in the pic. What is going on? Will this improve?

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Hi, OCM, thank you for your question.
From the photo, the central zone of your skin looks lighter color than the rest of the skin (may be because of the light reflections). Protect from the sun, if it doesn't go at the end of two years, then laser treatment can be done for skin tonal equalization.

There are multiple ideologies for skin to have changes in pigment. Sometimes skin fungal infections can cause pigment changes and simply using over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoo as an ointment can correct skin pigment changes when it’s fungal oriented.
I suggest consulting with the dermatologist.
