Retin A can be quite irritating to the skin, so if you are still tender or sore from the Kybella injections, I’d avoid using Retin-A there. However, you can use it on the rest of your face and neck. Once your skin feels less tender, feel free to use the Retin A under your chin as well. It won’t affect your Kybella treatment at all. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist for your Kybella will give you the best chance of beautiful results.
Kybella should have no effect on the surface of the skin so using Retin A after treatment is fine and won't cause a problem with your treatment.
There’s no reason not to use Retin-A unless your skin is tender after your Kybella treatment. Just use your judgment. As long as you have no irritation, Retin-A is fine. If you do have irritation, wait a few days until it settles down before putting the Retin-A on your chin. Ask your board-certified dermatologist if you have other questions about what you can and can’t do after Kybella. It’s actually a well-tolerated procedure with little downtime and few prohibitions.
You needn't be concerned. The tiny openings from the needle used for your Kybella treatments have closed by now, and you can apply Retin-A. However, because your skin is somewhat inflamed, you may want to use it less frequently than previously, perhaps every three or four nights, until you see whether or not it irritates your skin. All the best! Dr. Clark
If your skin is tender from the injections, then I recommend holding off on the Retin-A for a few nights, since it can further irritate the skin. However, if you have no tenderness, you do not need to stop the Retin-A.
You can return to your regular skin care regimen immediately after Kybella treatment. There should be no issues using retinol or retin-a.
Most likely no. But why NOT call the injecting MD whom did your session?? They are the responsible party to all your post injection and result care.
Hi aaakloon,I have extensive experience with Kybella and our post care instructions include icing (carefully) and taking pain medicine like ibuprofen. There will be some pain and bruising. Go ahead and apply your usual skin care (Retin A) and sunscreen. You may want to add a product from SkinMedica that contains TNS, a complex that promotes skin healing. There are no contraindications.Best regards, Justin Harper, M.D.
Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, which our gall bladder secretes naturally. When injected into the submental fat, Kybella works its effects in that area and is then metabolized by the body as if it were endogenous (produced in the body) deoxycholic acid. It doesn’t linger. It doesn’t chan...
DearSugar980:What a terrific question! ...And one we have asked ourselves as well. What you need to know is that the deoxycholic acid in Kybella acts immediately to lyse the cell walls of fat cells. The amount of inflammation makes no difference whatsoever to the number of cells that will die a...
To treat a double chin with Kybella, we use a template that has numerous openings for injections. This is because the deoxycholic acid in Kybella stays put and doesn’t migrate more than a centimeter or so at most from the injection site. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will ens...
