On the surface, your question sounds relatively simple but your photo makes me want to ask many more questions. Does the photo represent your "normal" bite (the normal position your upper and lower teeth fit together)? If it is, you have more significant issues than the small space. If it is not your normal bite, an accurate answer will be most difficult let alone a wild guess. Sorry
Hi Kb0001,Thank you for posting your question. In general Invisalign can close the gap between the front teeth. Your case would have to be worked up to see how long it would take. A clin-check can be made to give you a 3-dimentional animation of the movements necessary to achieve your desired outcome and give you an estimated time of treatment. Although your concern is the gap between your front teeth you should have your entire mouth evaluated to give you the best long term outcome. It may or may not have an effect on how your upper and lower jaw relate to each other. What I notice in the picture you posted is that your Lower front teeth sit in front of the upper teeth and there is an open bite. An open bite is when your upper front teeth don't touch the lower front teeth and there is a space between the two. This situation can put a lot of pressure on the back teeth. Do you clench or Grind your teeth? All this needs to be addressed when your case is being worked up. Hope that helps! Good Luck!Best, Dr. Supriya Verma
It is impossible to tell from one photo, but typically closing a gap like this should take 3 to 6 months. The big concern is your bite. When you close your teeth together, your lower front teeth hit your upper front teeth and help keep this gap open. The real question is how long it will take to correct the bite, not to just close the gap. That may take 9 to 12 months. Talk to your Invisalign provider.
Thanks for posting the pictures. I understand your frustration about getting different treatment plans from different practitioners. This is due to different training and levels of expertise of the Doctor. Ultimately it is your decision to choose the treatment plan and Doctor that is right for...
It is possible for one of the trays to have a small defect. You should contact your dentist to see if they can adjust it for you so you don’t lose time in treatment. If they can’t Invisalign should be able to send a replacement tray at no charge.
To really be sure, have a comprehensive examination with an Invisalign provider. That being said, Invisalign can correct your midline discrepancy in most cases. Depending on the cause, it may take a while. But, Invisalign can certainly work for you!
