Not too sure if my frown lines are too severe and deep. How will I know if Botox will get rid of my frown lines?

Botox can soften permanent lines but fillers is really the best way to address them completely. Please see an injector for a physical assessment to determine which treatment is right for you.

Botox works by relaxing muscles that cause wrinkles. The muscles in our face are used to provide facial expression. When they contract they cause wrinkles of the overlying skin. After years of folding and unfolding the skin can develop thinning in the area of the wrinkle. This thinning increases with time and can result in a wrinkle that is present even while the muscle is relaxed. The use of Botox can help soften wrinkles, and prevent their formation. However, once a wrinkle is present at rest, further improvement of that line can be obtained by injecting filler. The filler works by adding volume directly within the crease and softening the wrinkle's appearance.Botox is a good product for wrinkle prevention/improvement, but cannot resolve all wrinkles. Some wrinkles would benefit from the use of Botox and placement of filler.

Botox works by stopping the muscles from moving that cause wrinkles.  Even people with extremely deep wrinkles can get an improvement in their appearance with Botox, although the wrinkles may not completely go away.  Botox has obviously worked for your wrinkles and that's a good thing!  Keeping up on the Botox will prevent further deepening of the wrinkles.  So its a win-win, you are treating the wrinkles you hafve while preventing them from getting worse! 

Botox will help improve deep frown lines, but it may not always eliminate them completely.  Usually, I recommend treating frown lines with Botox first and see how much better they get.  If there is still some degree of a furrow left, a filler can be used for further improvement.  You should feel good that your frown lines can be completely eliminated with Botox alone and I would recommend just continuing with that treatment for you.   

Good for you that you started treating your frown crease before the lines got too etched. It sounds like you are getting great results. Keep it up.If a person waits too long the Botox will stop the movement but there is still a fixed crease in the frown crease area. When this happens we need to also add a filler to soften the etched crease.The smart patient will start using the Botox before the crease gets fixed.Kudos to you for catching it in time. Keep up your regular treatments and you will be very happy  as time goes on.

Botox, especially if done on a younger patient before sun damage "etches" in those lines, can eradicate the static frown lines. Once they are etched in from age and sun damage, fillers or Fraxel are needed in addition to Botox to eliminate those deeply etched lines.

Thanks for your question. Botox, as well as Dysport and Xeomin, work on relaxing the muscles that cause the frown. And when this is done correctly, we see the frown lines disappear. These injections should be given by board-certified dermatologists or plastic surgeons or skilled injectors working in these offices. Once in a while, Botox will not completely correct the frown line, and when this occurs, a small amount of a hyaluronic acid filler may be used, most commonly Belotero or the new Restylane Silk. Over time, in many people, the frown line will be less and less, another one of the really nice things about Botox and its use. So I think your Botox is working fine from your descriptions and you should continue to do well.

As you have suspected, your frown lines are probably not as deep as you think. Botox generally doesn't erase permanent etched in lines but it can certainly soften them by relaxing underlying muscle fibers. If you are getting near complete improvement, then this is of course an optimal result. Regular treatment will help prevent further deepening of these lines over time.

Botox or Dysport can certainly help soften and dramatically improve frown lines. If you find after receiving a Botox treatment that your desired result was still not achieved, you can then use an injectable filler to help improve the look further.

Botox can help to stop the creation of deep frown lines and can help soften them if they already exist. I very much doubt yours are terrible because you said they cannot even be seen in certain light.
