Would buccal fat removal help with a round face/chubby cheeks at 49 years old?

Hi! I'm 49 with a stable, lean weight 5'4", 115 lbs) but a round face/chubby cheeks. I still have good skin elasticity. Would buccal fat removal be okay?

Thank you for your question. Understanding potential future problems with buccal fat reduction for a particular person has relatively little clinical background. However, if you have a look at the appearance of the facial features of your parents, and if they happen to be also within a relatively similar BMI, you can get an understanding of the behavior of the buccal fat as a familial characteristic. It is quite likely that buccal fat reduction would be appropriate.

Buccal fat removal is never carried out completely as the buccal fat is an extensive structure that spans over a big area of the cheeks and reaches the temple. Buccal fat reduction typically affects the lower part of this mass and is changing mostly the contours in the lower part of the cheeks.

Buccal fat removal can help anyone with a round face or chubby cheeks at any age, including 49 years old, especially if they have a stable, lean weight. The main limiting factor is not age but the cheekbones. Regardless of age, you can be a candidate for the procedure if you have high cheekbones. However, in the late 40s, unless you are of Asian, Black, or German descent, there is a high chance that you may not have high cheekbones. This does not make it a contraindication for the procedure. If the cheekbones are weak, and they are enhanced before or at the same time as the buccal fat removal (usually with hyaluronic acid cheekbone fillers), most people can become candidates for the procedure.
