Can Bruxism make you lose fat from your face?

Hello doctor, three years ago I developed bruxism due to a really high stress. I always had a really rounded face , ( with quite a lot of nice fat). My face lost a lot of volume ( fat) and I look quite different now. Could bruxism make my face sunk? I just buyed a splint for my teeth . Will my face get fat again? The most common and obvious cosmetic change to someone's face with bruxism is masseter hypertrophy making the jaw prominent, large and wide. This may be making the rest of your face look thinner in relation to your enlarged jaw.While the splint will help prevent further damage to your teeth, it will not correct the masseter hypertophy. You are smarter than us doctors and have diagnosed your own problem - stress. The best thing to do is address the underlying problem - stress. Treat the stress primarily. Treat the bruxism and your face secondarily.While you are treating the stress, consider Botox injections into the masseter muscles which will help with the bruxism, masseter hypertrophy and facial changes. This is only a temporary fix for the symptom of bruxism. Seek a permanent fix to the disease - stress.
