How can I remove/dissolve the stitches that never dissolved after 6 years?

Hello, I had a neck lift about 6 years ago and the stitches never dissolved. I have small but noticeable lumps under my skin beneath my ears. They were supposed to be dissolvable stitches. My doctor told me to wait awhile, which I did, but then I moved out of the city. How can I remove/dissolve the stitches?

Thank you for your question. I suggest that you ask your board certified facial plastic surgeon to remove the stitches. It is best you work with your surgeon because they have the intimate knowledge of your procedure.

You aren't able to do this on your own.  Find a qualified surgeon who can help you. It shouldnt be difficult to correct your issues.

After 6 years nyou ncan assume that the stitches are not dissolvable and thus the only remedy is to remove them. Usually this is not a big deal but will need local anesthesia and a small incision plus or minus sutures.

Occasionally, the absorbable sutures will fail to dissolve.   If that is the case, then the best option is to make a small incision over the suture in the office (under local anesthesia) and remove it.
