Will my legs look strange if I only get inner-thigh lipo?

Hello and thank you for the great question.In my experience, individuals with all around heavy thighs benefit  most from circumferential liposuction to achieve a smooth and natural appearance.  However, without seeing your photos it's difficult to judge whether you'd be a candidate for inner thigh liposuction alone.Liposuction in any area can affect your over all proportions and so the nearby regions must be assessed carefully when planning treatments.  If your calves are heavy, treating the thighs alone may give the calves a relatively heavier appearance.  You inner knees must also be evaluated to achieve a smooth transition to the lower leg.It's best you consult with an experienced Plastic Surgeon who performs liposuction well and frequently in order to learn your best options, as maintaining balanced proportions are crucial to long term good results.Regards,Dr. Pedy GanchiVillage Plastic Surgery

If the liposuction is done smoothly and carefully, and not overly aggressively, you should have a nice proportional thigh shape once the inner thigh area is treated.  But this would not "reduce pressure" on the calf area.All the best,

I'm not sure there is a yes or no answer to your question. Most patients are pleased with the result although an area untreated might become more of a concern to them once a problem area has been eliminated.

Suction lipectomy of the inner thigh must be done judiciously. The skin is thin and prone to post operatively dimpling. No change at the calves should be expected.

Liposuction of your inner thighs alone will help your inner thighs, but will not reduce the size of your calves. appreciate your concern.Smart lipo is a good option for your concerns. however excessive skin will only be corrected with skin removal. Your calves, may look bigger after the procedure due to the proportion that your eye will get when comparing the two areas. Finally, liposuction of the calves is not a common procedure due to the high risk of chronic swelling (lymphedema) to the area.

In most cases, treating the inner thighs alone should be OK. It really depends upon multiple factors including how much fat is removed, how loose the skin is, the surgical skill, etc..

A well trained plastic surgeon will be able to blend in the areas that were treated with those that are not.  The goal is to have a smooth transition from the upper to lower legs.  Problems occur if too much fat is removed.  That is why it is very important to find someone with experience.  You should be looking for a board certified plastic surgeon.  Unfortunately there are many doctors performing this procedure that do not have the proper qualifications.  You should have the option of performing it either in the hospital or surgery center, not just the office.  Alarms should be going off in your head if your only option is an office procedure.  That means the surgeon may not be qualified or credentialed to perform this procedure in hospital.   Make sure you go in for an in person consultation.  Make sure you look at before and after photos.  And make sure that you feel comfortable with the person you're talking to.  This should NOT be decision based only on price.  You will get what you pay for.  liposuction is actually a very nuanced procedure and selecting the right person to do it will impact  your final result.
