Thank you for your clinical post and
question. Contouring of excess fat of
the calf and ankle is not an uncommon request.
Over the past 24 years of advanced liposuction techniques I have
performed this procedure on a fair number of individuals. The contour and shape of the calf and ankle
bears meticulous attention and needs to be performed very carefully with
delicate techniques often SmartLipo or radio frequency assisted lipo to
minimize swelling by thermal coagulation of the fat and ensuring soft tissue
contraction and contouring. Many
patients feel they have contour issues with unwanted fat or their calf when in
reality they have very large calf muscles called the gastrocnemius and these
patients Botox reduction often works well and rarely muscle shaving can be an
added of benefit. If there truly is pinchable
subcutaneous fat of the calf both the inside, outside and back of the calf as
well as the inside and outside of the ankle then selective and skillful lipo
contouring can make an improvement.
