I was reading a few articles on NCBI and saw studies showing that patients that have not had filler in 5+ years still had filler in their face which was supposedly proven with MRI imaging. This claimed that for example getting cheek filler over time can actually make your face appear more round as it is migrating to different areas of the face. Is there any truth to these articles? If yes, what would someone whose had filler done before do to get rid of the migrated filler in their face?

Answer: Do fillers migrate Fillers which are FDA-approved and are injected using a proper technique buy a plastic surgeon who is trained in such procedures should not move in any way, shape or form. The only area on the face where a small amount of movement can be seen with some fillers is in the lower eyelid area. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery

Answer: Migration of Fillers There is a lot of confusion on what happens to fillers. They can migrate, but only do so relatively soon after injection. After that they are relatively stable. They then are dissolved over time once the body recognizes them. However, depending on many factors, some of the filler (which, with hyaluronic acid fillers, is the precursor of collagen) is converted to collagen and is permanent. If you inject the same area on different occasions, you get more fill in the area and have to use less filler to achieve the same result. You don’t get enhancement in places you haven’t had filler. I will occasionally retreat an area, but, with the same amount I used the first time, treat a new area also.
