What is the difference between microaire liposuction and laser liposuction? Will micro still tighten skin as laser does?

My surgeon saids they produce the same results as micro heats the skin without having to use a laser since I am currently on accurate for acne. I would like a second opinion however.

In my opinion, I do not think that any of the lipo techniques produces significant skin tightening.  Lipo reduces the overall fat volume, period.

Microaire - power assisted liposuction (PAL) is a liposuction cannula which has a small motor.  the motor causes the cannula to move forward and back (reciprocating motion) making it somewhat easier for the surgeon to perform the liposuction.  Microaire liposuction will not tighten skin.  Energy assisted liposuction - laser (Smartlipo), untrasound (Vaser liposuction), or radio frequency (Body Tite) - can tone or tighten skin, to a small degree.  However, the amount of tightening with energy assisted liposuction is  in the range of a few millimeters to a centimeter or two.  Liposuction will not tighten the skin to the degree a tummy tuck, breast lift, or thigh lift will (with skin excision).   Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
