How soon can I have a tummy tuck after an abortion?

After a termination of pregnancy is confirmed by the gynecologist with the follow up ultrasound, it is typically acceptable to have a tummy tuck.  You will have to tell the surgeon because the pregnancy test on the morning of the surgery will still be positive.  If you have documented proof of termination from the gynecologist it will allow the surgeon to understand the positive urine pregnancy test.

You need to let your surgeon know what happened before your surgery to avoid surgery cancellation. It will be wise to provide to your PS-all of the facts of treatment, pregnancy termination confirmation from your gynecologist.

I would encourage you to notify your plastic surgeon immediately.  You will surely not be the first patient in this situation.  Your hormone levels can remain high for at least a month after abortion and this will be evident in the pre-op testing results.  For the anesthesiologist to clear you, you must have proof that no products of conception remain.  Additionally, I prefer for patients to have recovered fully from the anesthesia for the D&C before undergoing surgery.  Best of luck.
